CMH

Children with Medical Handicaps

Children with Medical Handicaps (CMH) is a tax-supported, state administered program in the Ohio Department of Health. This program was developed to help provide financial assistance, regardless of family income, to assist with diagnostic costs of children under the age of 21 with suspected special health care needs.

CMH provides funding for those families who meet the criteria, for ongoing treatment of children with a medically eligible condition. All services must be provided by a CMH physician.

Registered nurses at Crawford County Public Health are available to assist families in the application process, assist with referrals to the appropriate CMH providers, provide home visits, coordinate services with other local agencies and act as a family advocate helping to troubleshoot medical, social and financial needs.
