PREVENT + PROMOTE + PROTECT

Household Sewage

Our department is responsible for residential septic systems up to, and including, triplexes.

Getting Started

Prior to contacting our office to begin the process of reviewing your property for the installation of a new or replacement sewage system, please review the Household Sewage Treatment System Procedures booklet.   This booklet will take you step-by-step through the process of installing your new septic treatment system.

Contained within this booklet is a Site Review application form which can be printed, completed, and returned to our office to begin the process.  The site review fee is listed at the bottom of the form.   All current fees for site review and installation permits are also listed inside the booklet.

Crawford County Public Health is the regulatory authority in charge of residential septic systems up to and including triplexes. Please review the State-Wide Sewage Treatment Systems Regulations.

Site Review

If you would like to have a piece of property evaluated for a septic system please fill out the Site Review Application Form. You can download to print this form, fill it out and mail it to us along with the appropriate fee (see the fee schedule in the drop-down menu under Environmental Programs). If you would like to be present during the site review please put a note on the request so that we know to contact you to set up a time. Please review the Household Sewage Treatment System Procedures Booklet prior to submitting request.

Evaluation of Existing System (Sale of Property/Refinance)

If you have an existing house and an existing septic system and need to have the system evaluated for the sale or refinancing of the home our department can do a Sale of Property Inspection Request. Please note all instructions on the form and fill out as completely as possible.
